About Us

What is Adam’s Camp?

Adam’s Camp is a Colorado-based non-profit organization providing a variety of intensive, personalized, and integrated therapeutic programs for children with special needs and their families, as well as recreational programs for youth and young adults with moderate developmental disabilities. Our location and programming offer your family an experience unlike any other!

Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is the perfect location for your special needs family to plan the adventure of a lifetime at Adam’s Camp! Our programs take full advantage of our mountainous landscapes and urban settings in order to match every family member’s interests.

Our signature Therapy Programs provide individualized, multidisciplinary treatment using our unique 5-5-5 model for your 8-12 year old. This successful framework employs small groups of pediatric therapists to work one-on-one with 5 children over 5 consecutive days. These programs focus on each child’s strengths and needs, providing coordinated, outcome-based treatment. We know each child learns differently, so each of our distinct programs provide occupational, physical, speech, music, and art therapies daily.

Young adults may want more freedom and independence to try some challenging and exciting activities at our unique Recreational Programs. Our sleep away Adventure Camp gives your child alone or the whole family the chance to spend 7 days in the desirable Colorado Rockies. If the mountains aren’t the right place for your child, our Urban Adventure program lets your child explore what metro Denver has to offer!

Adam’s Camp believes no special needs child should be overlooked because of their age. We want to see all these children succeed. This is why our programming extends from infants to young adults.

Adam’s Camp began because of supportive families, so from the beginning families have been a big part of all therapy programs. Adam’s Camp provides the supportive environment needed to for your entire family to understand, treat, advocate for and ultimately enjoy your special needs child.

Our programs are successful because they are designed to meet the needs of the individual in a camp setting, where healing and hope are contagious. The values of integrity and support permeate the organization, can be clearly seen in the work of our staff and board, and most importantly shows through the 75% of our families who note that their children make significant progress toward their individualized therapy goals at the end of the Adam’s Camp week and 60% of our families and 76% of our therapists who return to Adam’s Camp every year! This dedication to serving our Adam’s Camp families has been recognized and rewarded. We received the Governor’s Raising Colorado Investing in the Future of Our Children and Families-Civic Excellence Award in 1992, was a finalist for the El Pomar Award for Excellence in 2008, and recieved the international Heartsping award for Creativity and Innovation in Special Education in 2009.
